    Default Phone Unlocking nightmare...

?Does anyone know what it entails for my daughter to change to a diffrent phone...Details below...

She is currently with t mobile.

Her grandad has just given her a virtually new nokia 6303 classic phone, which is a pay monthly contract phone,on orange.

She has put her current t mobile sim into the nokia 6303,and it is coming up as .."ENTER RESTRICTION CODE"

?What does this mean..?Can she use this phone, what does she need to do to get the phone to work with her t mobile sim.
    Cheers.

Round here they charge around £10, once the phone's unlocked it should accept the SIM, just make sure her numbers etc on the old phone are saved to SIM not phone memory.

orange lock their phones so only orange sim's will work in it. As said, get it unlocked, most mobile phone market stalls can do this.

Sadly, the 6303 cannot be unlocked for sensible money. It uses SL3 security. Only 2 teams can unlock it at the moment. They are DM3 that will want £35, and Genie Universal... They will want roughly £60..

Have you tried Orange. They will charge around £20 for the code.. Takes between 1 and 10 days to come.

None of the unlock shops, market boys, etc will be able to unlock it (there is a DM3 centre in Manchester though).

Just get a cheap Samsung. Any of the unlock shops should be able to unlock it.

Don't try the unlock codes that are a few quid off of $bay.. They won't help.

best thing to do is ring orange and ask them to unlock the phone, cost around £20 and it is done pretty much instantly. well it was in my case. its a lot safer than going to them mobile phone stalls. hth.

Just to add.. If you have entered any code where it asks you to enter the restriction code 3 times or more... You've had it regarding unlocking it by code. All new Nokias have a 3 count (old ones were 5). Even with a code sourced from Orange, you'd need to find someone with hardware to enter the code for you.
