    Default Is it illegal.......

    Some time ago at work, there was an internal vacancy advertised for a supervisors job. 3 of us applied. No interviews ever took place, and now 1 of the 3 has been given the job. Surely thats not legal is it?? The word discrimination comes to mind.

    I've no idea about employment law, but surely they can hire whoever they want...?

    all applications need to be reviewed and interviews should take place!

    So the multi billion $ worldwide company i work for has in this case has operated against uk employment law. The reason I want to know is for when I go to complain about this I'm gonna drop it into conversation and see their arses squirm as there pants start to fill.

    Personally I'd ask an employment lawyer first, as appose to a bunch of car nutters... Nothing saying that they members above AREN'T employment lawyers, just my opinion...

    The only time that interviews won't take place, is when there are no suitable candidates.
    Or only one person applies...but then an informal chat will usually still take place.

    Obviously the employer had already decided who they wanted, before advertising the post.
