Default vectra C 2.2 DTI ...WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE???

had posted before but neevr got any concrete answers...

i want to boost the engine a little ...

ive been advised a few things
    1. pipercross panel filter.
    2. airbox mod?
    3. tuning box.
    4. or remap.?

    i honestly dont know!
with the panel filter i get told its only worth it in the summer
my mate says the tuning box is guna mash my car up as it will trick the car into asking for more fuel and air...
and the remap which i dont know what actually would need to be done as im not that good with the technical side of cars...

the car has only jsut done 36k , no faults or probs.

all i want from the car is to give me that extra little bite and improvement if possible on fuel economy.

It seems as good an answer as any! Certainly provided me with some food for thought!

Or you could do what i have done and got:
    1. Carbon Fibre air box
    2. straight through decat exhaust
    3. Just done a nice intercooler upgrade
    4. Coilovers

Im going for a remap towards the end of the year and then some RR tuning. Looking for 200bhp lol

EDIT: i know coilovers dont add power but they really help in the corners

Why is the panel filter only any good for summer? Not sure why a box will mash your car up either? The fuel pumps are meant to be fragile on the dti hence why many places do not make tuning stuff for the car.

So far I have decatted stainless system and air filter and air filter box mod dunno what it is but it does but pull a lot better

Steinbauer box are good but £450 new

I,ve tuned a couple of diesels in the past I,ve had tuning boxes, remaps and in my experience there is not much difference between a remap and a decent tuning box. (The latter you can remove when you sell it)

I think the options are quite limited for the dti

wow...some nice responses...ok so if i got a tuning box from steinbauer , would it defo not guzzle the tank up, and defo would not mess the engine up?

also, if i got decent exhaust system, would it increase the performance aswell on top?

im so confused with what to treat myself with for my birthday...!

It depends how you drive tbh but if you are just driving normally the steinbauer won't use any more diesel

    Go on, treat yerself

the tuning boxes just increase the fuel pressure and fool the ecu into thinking its at the correct value. digital boxes are best but i still think a remap is the way forward as this does alot more than just increase fuel pressure

Steinbauer tuning boxes don't increase fuel pump pressure.

Thats why they are the safest box to use on a DTi and even Steinmetz supply them as part of their tuning packages

How does it work then? As far as i can tell, a tuning box manipulates the signals going to and from the fuel pump and ecu.

Before you make your decision (and i must point out i am not biased towards remaps and dont doubt the safety and capability of tuning boxes) i think you should do some research into both remaps and boxes. I have and chose a remap but you may see differently. They are both similar in price so it appears to be down to preference
