    Default car pass for towbar?

hello i have fitted a genuine vx towbar and proper electrics that plug in but no power so contacted vx and they told me they can,t sort without some code of my car pass ,which i don,t have is this true? i done a search but did,nt see anything about special car pass code when fitting a towbar so do you need your car pass to get power to your towbar??my car is 2002 2.o dti . any help appreciated.

the dealer can supply it to you for about £30. Its to allow them to connect the tech 2 and enable it in the cars settings.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

You may not even need to get tech 2, have you looked in the how2 section?

I had similar problem when fitting a 2nd hand vx towbar. Fitted fuse in 13 in fusebox in boot, no better. I then had to buy a wiring kit (witter) which includes a black box which fits into boot fusebox. Gubbed it no problem. £50 towbar, £50 wiring kit.
