Default Travel Assistant...B4 i do anything.........

    stoopid ,

i managed to get hold of a new travel assistant for my signum, the thing is its Tan and not Black or dark grey,,

looking at it i can easily recolour it to match or at least not stand out in my Charcoal interior, this can be done with vinyl-cote or something similar for less than £20,

another point is the electrics, ......i have a plan.......as my signum didnt come equiped with the floor plug for the assistant i have seen a way of getting power into it by convering the base section to have a power lead spliced into its electrics to at least give power to the fridge and the power outlets on it, this can then be pluged into the back of my console in the rear which has a power outlet in it above the ashtray,

the big question ...........does anyone in a similar situation have a Black travel assistant that they want to exhange with my Tan one ?

    wish me luck

    BB

Ooooh, I would be careful splicing into the electrics, canbus tends to throw a strop and start flashing warning lights all over the shop, I thought the travel assistant plug was under the carpet or rear seat?

i'm not goin to splice the cars leccy, i'm splicing the actual travel assistant base , i will put a power lead with a cigar lighter power end on a lead and connect it into the fridge supply and the power outlets of the travel assistant, and as mentioned, plug it into the cigar lighter in the car,,

only cars that were spec'd with the travel assistant have the floor ( or psudo trans-tunel ) mounted power outlet, if it didnt come with the assistant it didnt get the outlet,

BB ( and for my day job i'm an electrician )

I know what you mean , lol

    BB

ps, my Bro who is trained in interior repairs and refinishing is coming round today to recolour my travel assistant to match my cars interior ,

is there anyone out there that can get a part number for the floor connector section, i dont need the loom or anything, just the floor box and the anchor points for the box ,

this thing is getting to be more work than i thought, but i will try and make a ' how-to ' as i go along ,
the instructions also show it being fitted to a Vecra, if the rear seat squab has two slots/holes in the middle towards the base of the back section, then a travel assistant might be able to lock into place , it just rests above the rear seat

Ooh, let us know how you get on with the leccy bit...Ive just changed my signum, but this one does not have the fitting for the TA in the floor, however I kept the TA from my old car before it went! would be nice to know how to get it fired up in the back!. The floor bracked would be useful, just for keeping it in place regardelss of wether it was actually powered or not.

but went for the safe option of a charcoal one in the end.
