maf replaced still need help

hi guys have an issue with my 2004 sri 2.2 dti. Yesterday kept going into limp mode under moderate acceleration with the spanner light coming on. Turning engine on and off cured it temporarily but then the emissions light lit up. Took it to my mechanic who diagnosed it as maf at half 5 which was kind enough and put new maf in today. I HAVE to head from belfast here to england today and not convinced it all sorted. Limp mode came on in 3rd up a hill at 40mph and it never done that before. Am i missing something else as don't want to be stuck waiting for AA esp so far away. Want thanks. Btw car has 76k on it if that makes any odds.

ok wee update the mildest of hills seems to throw it into limp mode and there seems to be like greyish smoke coming out the exhaust at times when it will pull up hills any ideas getting quite worried now to be honest should i just stop and get the aa to get me back to belfast ?

sounds as if it may be ur turbo or the fuel pump on its way out mate u made sure its not pulling air from some where?

Have you checked all the hoses for splits? very common on the dti's, as is a blocked boost sensor.

Is it just up hills or when on the throttle as well that sends it into limp home mode?

plug a code reader in and see what it comes up with as if u have had a wee look over it and u cant spot anything id see whats showing up on the code reader then go from there

when i just sit and rev huge plume of black smoke comes out. Will go into limp even on relatively flat road. Mechanic gave hoses quick check before left belfast this morning.

forgot to say when you floor it before it goes into limp mode you can hear what sounds like a sucking noise quite clearly over the engine noise

could be the tiniest split in either of the two boost hoses you need to give them a good check!

As the other guys have said, check the boost pipes, the boost valve and the intercooler for damage, Have you plugged it in to a diag and got the codes?

no i'm in carlisle waiting on aa. No code reader as only got off boat from belfast (home) at 2 this afternoon
