    Default Replacement Discs & Pads?

On the way home from work tonight we discovered quite how ****e the stock brakes on our 2.2 DTI SRi really are!! We werent going fast perhaps about 80ish to over take on a dual carrageway... blagh blagh blagh....... The point is we had to slow down sharpish and the brakes just dont seem capable of stopping a car this size when traveling at speed!?!

What would be a good upgrade to the discs and pads? Im not on about Brembo 6pots or discs that could double as a sky dish! Just a simple direct replacement that will stop the car from 80(ish) in less than a week!

I fitted 302mm calipers pads and discs onto my 2.2DTI. They are more than adequate for stopping it (and mine is boxed)

To start with I'd just go for some fast road pads EBC RedStuff for example and see how you get on with those otherwise its gonna be grooved/drilled discs to dissapate the heat generated quicker with the fast road pads, If your still not happy then the next step is the 314mm upgrade but its not cheap.

Red stuff's sound like a god start. any recommendations for standard sized grooved & drilled discs (I dont really want to go to the expense of caliper upgrades etc...)?

Just to add 302 calipers are about 50-80 quid a pair second hand.

If anything try the greenstuff pads (redstuff really need to be worked to keep them up at temperature)

The link that Lee posted is another viable option
