Auto Gearbox Snow Setting Turning On By Itself
Hello, firstly I wanted to give my thanks to the forum contributors for their sterling efforts. This forum has helped me so much in the first 4 months of Vectra ownership...hopefully it can help me with another issue.
I own a 2007 Facelift 1.9 CDTI 150 Auto and recently when turning the ignition on I've noticed the Snow symbol on the dashboard. This usually only displays when pressing the snow button on the auto gearbox. At first pressing the snow button made no difference but switching to manual mode on the auto box would get rid of it.
Over the past few days the snow symbol has been intermittently switching on while driving. This can be quite dangerous, especially when trying to pull away quickly, as to my knowledge the snow setting selects 3rd/4th gear when pulling away to avoid wheel spinning.
At the same time I've noticed that when in manual mode I can change down gears but can't change up.
Does anyone have an idea where I should start first?

Probably by posting in the correct section
Have you plugged in a code reader?

I'll take that on the chin as I'm new here
Yesterday I removed the plastic surround of the gearbox to check the electrical connector for the snow button and gear selector lights, thinking that something might be shorting the button but couldn't see anything obvious.
No I've not yet invested in an OP-com but know someone with one but I'll have to wait a week or so to use his.

After you read the fault codes with either OpCom or Tech2, enter the TCM module and perform a reset of the learned values.
