    Default 6x9's in front doors

I'm thinkin about putting some 6x9's in the front doors and was hoping that someone had some pics of the doors with the doorcards removed, I'm not to worried about drilling new holes to mount them in the door just wanted an idea of how much work will be needed plus has anyone does this before?

The face of the vauxhall speaker is about 20mm out from the door skin. I tried to fit 8" full range jbls to mine, hoping the 20mm step out from the door would bring them out enough speaker the chassis would have narrowed enough for them to go in the hole. (hope you know what i mean) No such luck.

Alpine full range speakers often tend to have reasonably small magnets and chassis for an aftermarket speaker so maybe you could get some of those in? However I think I good set of 6.5 components would out perform them anyway!

I take it you've had 6x9's before? They do need a large hole. A good set of components would do the trick and also fit properly. Are you any good with fibreglass, how about custom door pods? Build up some old door cards with MDF rings/baffles, and re skin them in fabric to match the interior. If you got a set of cards cheep your not going to bin much if it all goes wrong.

Yeah I've got a set of pioneer 6x9's that I've have for years just wondered of I could try and fit them.I could try and get some cheap doorcards and give it a go never used fiberglass before so could be a project over the summer, if not il get 6.5 components like mucklestone suggested

I know this is an old thread but just for the record I have modified mine to fit the 8" full range JBL units in behind the factory grills. You need to sand the door card to give more clearance behind and remove and rest the grills. Then build a mount to fix them to the door. No cutting of the metal is required but I had to drill some new mounting holes. Finally the door check strap needs to be removed and filed down so it does not foul the magnets.

It really brings the bass forward. They have been in a couple of years now with no problems....
