Default Wheels sound like a train stopping?!

After a hard 2 days of trying to get my locking nuts off, I have stumbled across another problem.

Ove past couple of hours on and off, the car sounds like a train pulling into a station.
It sounds like metal grinding, but occationally rattles.
I took the front passenger wheel off (after locking nut problems) and found that when the car is in neutral, I can turn the wheel and hear it grinding. Its not the brake pads as they have been changed a few months back and look fine. The screaching isn't just when I put the brake on, its whenever the car moves. It happens more when the car is rolling, but as I speed up it is drowned out, and usually disappears for a while, then as I'm rolling up to some traffic lights or something, it seems to rattle, and the screaching is back.
The rattle sounds like something has fallen off the car and is being pulled along the road, but I've stop a number of times when I've heard it, and had a look all round the car, and I can't see anything hanging down or loose.

Like I said I can hear it when the car is rolling.

(on a side note, does the Vectra have sensors for the rear brakes because past few times I've driven the car from cold, it seems to grind to a holt first few times I apply brakes.)

Might possibly warped discs that are touching the pads as the wheel rotates(seen this before)

Vec doesn't have rear sensors and they all seem to make a grinding noise because it's something to do with the compound used to make the pad...

    Cheers...

I've taken the wheel off again, and taken a picture of the discs.

You can see that its very rusty around the edges.
How do you know when you need new discs?
Could the screaching be anything else if it's not warped discs?

Ignore the wheel bit, reread that.

Maybe a sticking piston? The brake pad might not be hitting it squarely.

You may have disturbed some rust that is stuck some where between the pad,s and the disc....

to echo john, the brake disc is visually fine...

if mine was making that noise i'd be whipping the caliper off to get the pads out, then having a look while rotating the disc to see whats causing it..

    Thanks guys.
I'll try taking the caliper off to have a look if anything is wrong.
I've read the How2, and it seems ok, but do I need a tool to take it off/put it back on?

The load screaching seems to have stopped for time being, but is there anything I can do to stop the squeaky brakes?
