    Default Downpipe??

    Hi all,
As some of you know, I've already got a custom built exhaust on my 1.9cdti and was thinking of getting a custom made downpipe. Is there any point to this or am I just wasting my money? Anyone who has experienced good/bad results please tell me about them as this may make my mind up.
    Cheers,
    George

I know a sound like a broken record, but speak to Ian at MPG mate, hes developed a system for the cdti, cant remember how far it went, defo decat.

But he said with a remap it was circa 210-212bhp with it and had fitted it to a mates astra. He seemed to know what was best for the engine as hes also currently doing development work on the turbo!

    Might be worth a chat??

Ok people. Just been on the phone to Ian (who was confused because he thought I already had a downpipe/de-cat back system) and he said that the 1.9 cdti engines have a pre-cat before the flexipipe. For that reason, getting a bigger downpipe could be beneficial as it lets the exhaust breathe that little bit easier. He said it should add 2-3bhp (not much but every little helps) and may help the turbo spin a little bit more (not too much that it causes a problem). He added that the car should be more responsive too. This is what the 888 astra runs with apparantly.
So, by getting the right answer, I will be getting a downpipe added.
Hope this helps those others out there that have been thinking about getting this done.

Of course. Might give it another go on the dyno after that just to see what the final output is. I think over a month is long enough for the engine to get used to the remap

Does anyone know if there is that much difference between dyno's? I.E. the last one I got was at MPG and the next one will probably be at AP Motors down in Plymouth.

Well mine feels stronger since the remap, confirmed by a mate who hadn't been in her since it had just been done. So I reckon your next run should show higher figures...on the same RR anyway...
