Default Right another irmscher exhaust question

I picked up my shiney new Irmy back box and insert from Dose last night (cheers buddy).

I eventually decided that yes I did want it and if it needs adapted to fit then i'll just have to do it sooooo.... it needs adapted lol.

So now here are the figures

Original exhaust external diameter is 54.69mm

    Irmscher External diameter is 53.20mm

    Irmscher internal diameter is 50.20mm

So assuming that the original exhaust on the car has a wall thickness of 1.5mm the internal diameter of it would be 51.69

Of course if some one has a dti/cdti centre pipe sitting and could take the int diameter where it joins the back box it would be much appreciated

So would this 1.49mm difference in size restrict the engine?
should I just go and get the end of the pipe (on the back box) flared to 54.69mm

Or will I have to cut the pipe off of the back box and get the right sized one welded on (massive headache)

Thanks for reading, hope it makes sense lol

i wouldnt have thought 1.5mm would have affected the engine if at all personally id just get it flared and fitted as its not as if ur welding it on were u will get a lip inside as ur flaring it so just channels it smoothly

Personally I would look at cutting the new bits and squeezing them inside the oe stuff.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

All I did in a similar situation with a 2.2 flowing into a 2.0T system was to cut 2 slots in the larger pipe, slide it over the smaller and clamp it down with some zorst putty, worked perfect with no blow out.

Best bet for that one glad you made you mind up I was interested after seeing paul sessions car but I would have needed the rear bumper too as mine isn't an SRI and it was just to far to travel but it will look good when its on

Ah see my main worry was about the pipe being smaller and restricting the breathing. So I take it thats not really an issue
