    Default 1.8 VVT Engine Issues!!!

Hi guys. I know this issue has been raised before, (engine rattle on start-up with oil light staying on for approx 5 seconds) and apparently the camshaft pully's need replacing etc.
I was just wondering if anyone knew were I could purchase a new set of cam pully's, rather than going to the stealers?

I also have a further problem when first staring the car. When first driving it the car seems to judder on acceleration??

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Hi guys. Update from last time. I took the car into my local vx.

The mechanic advised that in the past he has only changed the camshaft pully's if there is a continuous rattling noise rather than a first start 'rattle'. He advised that I change the oil and filter and try that??? Should I do this or just replace the pully's an all that?

Which oil would you recommend using? Vx advised 05 30 fully synthetic.

    Cheers

    Oil seems the right grade.
Changing the oil and filter is a lot cheaper and will do no harm, but I cant see it fixing the judder.
It seems more likely to be clutch / flywheel related?
I have a 1.8 that judders, sometimes on start up and when its bein used alot. I've recently done a service, filters, oil and plugs, and sadly it made no difference to the judder.

    Hi guys,

Just a quick update. Changed the oil and filter. Oil used was 0w 30. Has made no difference. Same symptoms, i.e. oil light staying on for 5 seconds on start-up.

    Any further suggestions?

I am going to take it back to Vx to see what they say.
