Engine Electronics light comes on

I have recently just purchased a 1.9 CDTi Design vectra 54 from an auction but when starting the engine the Engine Electronics light (car with spanner) comes on for about a minute then goes off. Yesterday is struggled to start and was quite rough, started after 3 attempts. Its only done 60k. I have a friend who works for vauxhall and he said that he would take it in and stick it on the diagnostic computer to see if there is any faults.

Do you think it is worth doing this?

Sounds like the all too common problem of faulty glow plugs.

A diagnostic readout will tell you more correctly than a guess though.

i agree sounds like a glow plug. mine had the same problem.

Thanks Big Dave, well get this, my wife had a little accident involving 3 cars, nother fault as the cars behing her hit ours so it will be going into the garage as the back is all messed up so I will tell them that the engine warning light has all of a sudden come on so hopefully they will stick on teh diagnostic!
