    Default Acronyms explained?

    hi all, i like to think i know a little bit about cars but some of the terminology/acronyms used on this site send my head west, can anyone explain what they mean i.e EGR, DPF, swirl valve,

    I know EGR is exhaust gas recirculation (ie reburning of some exhaust gas in the cylinders)

    Swirl Valve = Its a valve in the inlet manifold that makes the air/fuel "swirl" for better combustion.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    AC - Air Conditioning
    BCM - Body Control module - found behind glove box
    BID - Board Info Display
    CC - Cruise Control
    CID - Colour Info Display
    CIM - Collumn Integrated Module
    DAB - Digital Audio Broadcast Unit
    DDM - Drivers Door Module
    DIAG - Diagnostic (Usually refers to port or connector)
    DIS - Display
    ECC - Electronic Climate Control
    EPC - Vauxhall's Electronic Parts Catalogue (pc based catalogue)
    GID- Monochrome Graphic Info Display
    HU or EHU - Head Unit / Main radio unit
    IPBEC - Instrument Panel and Body Electrical Centre - fusebox at end of the dash panel.
    OP COM - European version of Vaux Com - Diagnostic Interface and software
    PDM - Passenger Door Module
    REC - Rear Electrical centre (fuse box in the boot)
    TECH 2 - Vauxhall's own programming and diagnostic tool.
    TID - Triple Info Display
    TIS - Vauxhall's Technical Info System (pc based workshop manual)
    UEC - Underhood Electrical Control Centre - below fusebox under the bonnet
