    Question Catalystic converter

    Hi all!!,
Just a bit of a worry regarding my Cat.
My local garage told me my Cat needs replacing so i brought a cheap copy as i could not afford the price of a genuine one.
The worry i have is weather it will pass the MOT as it is not the genuine part.
My car is a 2.2 DTI and i have heard in previous threads that a faulty cat on a diesel may not be a problem for MOT's???

Help on this would be appreciated

Save the receipt for the cat you bought, and if it fails the MOT take the cat back with the "proof of failier" and tell them it is faulty and not up to standard.
I had to do this with a "cheap" Cat on a Vectra B we used to have. I got my money back.

Take them off, bin them and get a pipe welded into its place. Diesels do not need a cat for the mot. This is due to diesels only undergoing a "soot" test, not an emmisions test like the petrols.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
