Both those kits will put you DOWN on power mate, steer well clear of open induction kits on Ecotec's, they just such in too much heat. Your best way forward is a K&N panel filter in the stock box or even regularly changed paper filters. If you want to spend more (£200) then you'll want a closed induction kit like the Piper Viper, the only problem is the front mounted TB on the 2.2. To fit these kits you have to fit power sapping bends into the induction system. So on balance mate just go down the K&N route. HTH

TB is Throttle body or in old money Carb. On the 2.2 its on the front of the engine. The K&N makes a little bit more noise but not much, a fully enclosed induction system does make a nice noise though. I just bought a universal one of Ebay for £15 then just bought some silicone hose to mate it all up. The same make but specific for my car would have cost over £100.

Is there a how to on the airbox mod and would you recommend doing it and fitting panel filter?? Also is there any downside to doing the airbox mod?

    Here is a how2 for the 1.9.

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15122

Althought the layout of the induction pipes are different to the 2.2, the box is pretty much the same. Removing the plastic cover at the bottom of the box pictured in the How2 increases the airflow into the box. Hope that helps a little.

The plastic bit you'll remove is only there for noise reduction mate.
