EGR options

I was just wondering (as I don't have a live donor car to be looking at right now) this is a hypothetical idea. My wife used to have a Jeep Cherokee CRD with the Italian VM 2.8 4 cyl Diesel,, these had dreadful EGR clogging issues that was resolved by owners fitting an oil trap in line.

Would the Fiat engine set-up allow us to divert the flow to a trap can and back in to the inlet as on the Jeep's it formed a permanent and 5 minute cleanable solution.

Had a filthy VM engine in a frontera as well, stuck a ball bearing up the vac pipe to the egr to stop it actuating, never had any issues with emmisions

That's all well with the ball bearing if you have a vacuum operated egr

But vaux have electrical solenoid operated so that's out the question the euro3 mondeo tdci is vacuum but euro4 is electronic
