    Default Help .. Rattle after fitting new pads

    fitted pads on all four corners last week , now i have a clanging noise when on rough surfaces , thing is i put the car on the ramp this mornin and removed all 4 wheels to see what was going on , cant find a thing all the calipers and pads are snug ,its doing my head in , must be brake related because when i brake on a rough surface it goes, any ideas lads or do i need glasses

    cheap pads can rattle in the they genuine

    Have you put the metal clip thing on properly.?
    You know the bit that looks like a bent metal coat hanger.

    i had that problem, it was the rear inner pads rattling around in the caliper., the pad design had been upgraded and i was running on the old style.. I bought some new mintex pads which had the spring on the top of the pad which helps to hold the pad snug in the caliper and no more rattling.

    If u can also check the rubber seal on the piston inthe caliper, mine is torn to bits and am sure thats whats causing mine to rattle, as ive fitted vx pads and it didnt help

    It is definetely the rear inner pads that rattle, had it on mine, in the end replaced them with the vx genuine as the former didnt fit well.

    yep it is the inner pad rattling on both sides , going to take them out and sort them next week , but if im being honest these pads were different from the others i had in the older ones didnt have that looped spring on ,they had one on the opposite side to face , never had any probs with them , im going to fit /make a shim for them if i can
