Thumbs up a larger turbo ...UPDATE 26/04/10 YES ITS HERE ...

ok guys bear with me ..... i'm contemplating a larger turbo (from the saab 210bhp standard model) and as i already have a remap i'm wondering if this will just be a bolt on unit with faster spooling and more power
the reason i ask this is that courntey sell the vxr turbo as a direct replacement to the standard unit

    and i quote

"Suitable as a direct replacement unit for any Z20LET/Z20LEL/Z20LER engined car whose 'OE' unit is faulty and requires replacement. No remap required!!"

so in theory the Td04HL14T turbo should give me more power combined with the remap??

or am i madder than a bucket of frogs ??

Not sure if you would have problems with limp home mode due to the boost sensor. May need re-mapped to suit the new turbo

the turbo solenoids seem to be the same part for the whole "z" range of engines - and as above if cortney sell the vxr turbo as a direct replacement for the standard Z20LET/Z20LEL/Z20LER engined cars (without a remap... or with ??) then i would have though this SHOULD be the same for a larger stock turbo thats normally bolted onto the same engine? in this case the turbo as listed

Bsr stage 4 on the Vectra c facelift uses the same turbo i think! but they state you need injecters and downpipe with updated map.BUUUUUT Maptun say you can get 250ish bhp with just injecters. So what we really need is a tuning house to do some work on the z20net in the vec/sig but convincing them there's money to be made out of it may be difficult. So who is good mates with a tunner we can trust.

Dez, as already said, yours is a ZNET not a Zlet etc. Its a completly different turbo. Maybe ring courtney and ask?

guys i completely agree with what your posting and i KNOW were a Z20NET and that the courney site is referring to the LET engines - BUT i'm only using that as a reference to show that there saying you can bolt on the larger vxr turbo as a direct replacement without a remap and it will work (no ecu updates and no software involved) admittedly you may not gain any extra power (but i'd be surprised if you didnt)

so what i am saying is that you can do the same job with the z20net equivalent with the sister turbo from the 210bhp model that i have listed ??? and with a remap theoretically you would recieve even more power than the norm???

so again am i mad or am i mad

I believe the saabs - 210 areo - just use a different turbo and a new map. Get one and have it remapped
