if the spring is broken at the top or the bottom then you can drive on it as many people drive on them and have no idea they are broken.. If the spring has broken in the moddle somewhere it could be rubbing against your tyre and could cause a blow out.
Eibachs will give you a better ride when you get them on, much better on the corners..
If the broken bit doesn't pop of from where it sits and goes into the side wall of the the tyre, then it will be fine to drive, but if it does go in the side wall,it will rip the tyre apart, giving you a blow out/puncture,get it checked and looked at asap, one of my springs has broken,so i have ordered a pair, but i jacked the car up and removed the front strut and twisted the broken part of the broken spring,so it sits on the bottom cup more,as it was close to the edge and it looked like it could pop off anytime.
Thanx for the reply's guys.
Will check that now.
Sound advice above I would think. I had my old Vetra MOT'd last September, and it had 3 broken springs! I didn't even realise!
They tried to charge me £600 for 4 springs and 2 rear shocks. I got them down to £300 by shopping around and then using their price promise. They weren't amused but had to do it. They reckoned they were making about a tenner from the job !
