Wow massive understeer.

Haven't really had the chance to really test the SRI until tonight when some bellend cut me up on a roundabout.
I had to move pretty sharpish to the outside lane to get round him and then the red mist took over and i put my foot down to get round said bellend and the front tyres lit up (with traction control) and massive understear.
I wasn't going particularly fast and it was a big roundabout but i didnt expect understear like that.
Perhaps Clarkson was not over exaggerating with his assessment of the Vectra.
Luckily i don't drive like an idiot 99% of the time and didnt buy the car for that reason.
Im not bashing the car as it is good and does what i need it to do but i expected better in that situation.
I haven't had a car that did that since my old Astra GTE.
My suspension is fine and i am running on Pirellis with good tread so the car is not the problem it is just the chassis. A bit disappointing really.
Dont take this thread as a dig at the car its just im surprised at the amount of understear i got.

i agree dont you have to brake on entry , hold your speed , and accelerate out of the corner never put your foot down too hard on a corner? depends on how tight the corner is i suppose

Perhaps i need to adjust my driving style to suit the car. (well my enthusiastic driving style).
I had a 200bhp Volvo S60 that you could give a bit round the bends and that never lit up and slid unless you really pushed it.
If it wasn't for the dangerously dull steering and thirst for fuel i would probably still have that car. Actually the crashy low speed ride and Dashboard that looked like it had been carved from a block of plastic sealed that cars fate as well.

lol i drive like a maniac on the odd occation and never had it do it with me and i hav cheap and nasty tyres on could hav been a bit of oil or diesel spilled something like that god only knows least it never got any damage thats the most important thing

That's how I was taught, but that was for motorbikes and rear wheel drive. Still getting used to FWD, never had one before in 40 years driving.

as said... if you give it the beans midway through a corner you are very likely to lose traction!! if you'd have already been going quickly but maintained steady speed through the corner then you'd be probably have been fine.

I never liked FWD, puts too much strain on front wheels. Not a lot of choice since I broke my Omega last August - hit a patch of oil on a roundabout, wet road and RWD so for once I was behaving. Totally lost it one way, got it back then lost it other way, ran out of space and put nose under crash barrier.
Low speed, didn't even trigger airbags. Peeled bonnet back, flattened slam panel, rest of car fine. Drove it home.
A**eholes insurers wrote it off, despite me begging and pleading to either fix it or sell me the salvage so I could sort it.

yeah i think i might get 4wd in my next car i would be dangerous in a rwd
