    Cool Exhaust question

Hi i know im asking a question that has been asked many times before but i have a few questions i cant seem too find the answer for be it im just not looking in the right place/hard enough or it hasn been answered before. soo here goes i have a 2004 (53 plate) 2.2 non direct veccy C SRi and would like the dual exhaust off a 2.2 Direct. I have a friend who gets a large discount from places such as Andrew Page etc. So the questions i need answering are:
    1) Would a standard cat back system for a 2.2 direct bolt straight on or would i still have to do a bit of welding??
    2) What would i need to order to make it a direct fit?
    3) do i need a new bumper or is it easy enough to cut the standard non direct
    4) Will i see any power or noise increase or is it purely visual effect
    5) is it too seperate back boxes ie left and right or is it pre built such as the signum or veccy c estate

pretty sure thats all i need and i am sure as with many times before the great founts of knowledge on this forum will be extremely forthcoming and very helpful with the replies

    hi andy

I got a 2.2direct sri with dual exhaust not sure about fitting requirements but i can tell you they are two seperate boxes on the back, i have never really noticed a difference in noise from having the dual think its more of a visual thing like you say not sure about BHP gain, as for the bumper you might just be able to get hold of a diffuser for the bottom of bumper as im sure they can be changed from single to dual.

hope this helps you abit sorry i cant let you know about fitting requirements

Hi mate, I have the same 2.2 2004 53 plate 2.2. I've converted mine to a twin but used a system from 2.0T. All I did was cut and clamp just before the Y section. The 2.2 single exit system has a huge centre box and I mean huge, where the 2.0T has no centre box and the 2.2 direct has a small centre box so its not a case of just clamping up to existing joins. You should be able to fit it however straight from the cat flange as i'm sure the cat is the same, but please check part numbers to confirm. The 2.0t system is larger than the 2.2 none direct so cutting and clamping is very easy, you would however need to check the bore size of the 2.2 direct system to see if just clamping is possible. HTH

PS, it might be cheaper to get an Irmscher Y section and a right exit box from a 2.2 direct, you then should be able just to clamp it on using factory joins. The black exhaust bumper section just clips out so fitting a replacement twin is easy and you will find the VXR style far cheaper than SRi part.

Unfortunately on a petrol we have to have back boxes so they'll drive the cost up.
