    Default 2.0 CDTi 160 v 1.9 CDTi 150

Is the new 2.0 CDTi 160 based on the old 1.9 CDTi engine, and hence subject to all of the same problems with choking / sticky EGR valves, swirl bar rods falling off e.t.c. ?

it's a development of the old engine from what I gather, but you can rest assured you won't get any of the same swirl valve problems as before.
Even vectras after 2007 had a revised manifold design that appears to have eliminated the trouble (which wasn't as common as we're led to believe on this forum anyway).

There was not many 1.9 16v's that suffered from EGR faults though. I had 4 of them and they were all fine.

It's pretty much the head and block thats carried over with some re-work, after looking at my 2.0 CDTi 160, everything else all looks a different design.

But the engine is fine with no reported faults from dealers at all!

I find the 160 engine pulls better at low revs and doesnt seem to suffer from the turbo lag the 150 did. But me and the wifey both think the engine is noisey compared to the 150 at low speeds.
It also idles at a higher speed(1000 revs) untill the car comes to a halt ,then it settles at about 900 revs.

pmsl how wrong could you get ....the 160 is a totaly different set up regarding the inlet manifold / egr ...but there still **** ...seems the swirl problem has started to creep in and there is a egr recall out on them and there is also a dpf recall out ....lol at least the vec waited a while before throwing its toys out ....

Mine idles at different revs also, I believe it is down to the state of charge of the battery and the idle adjusts accordingly.

Is there any reason to be a total arse the way you correct people? There are ways and means of saying to someone there information is incorrect without the way you wrote it.

Also, the engine is not **** as you put it. I have had no issues with mine in the 5000 miles I have done so far, then again my 1.9's were ok as well.

So what do you drive then Benny? Suppose it's fantastic!

Got to say Matt your spot on with Bennys comments. My CDTI had 60000 miles on the clock when i sold it. And it without doubt was the best and most reliable car i have ever had.

You agree with him then? Have you seen many faults with the new insignias?
