Default mpg or the 2.2 petrol and the two 1.9 cdtis..?

What kind of REAL mpg do you guys get from the Z22SE 2.2 petrol veccy/signum and the same question again for the 1.9 cdtis 120 and 150 versions?

I get near 40mpg with the 2.2 in the current car so want something to roughly scale the mpg by for going down the cdti route with it

You get 40mpg out of the 2.2 ?? Do you just leave it in fifth and not go over 55mph ?

Heh, I kid of course, but I get nothing like that out of my 2.2 mind you I have a heavy right foot generally which probably doesn't help my cause.

That said however on a long distance cruise I get reasonable mileage, never actually looked at the average for a journey, but if I reign in my right foot, I must get about 400-500 to a tank something like that. (doesn't happen often though).

You will get much better mileage out of the cdti no matter what type of driving, the z22se is known for being a thirstier engine at the best of times

My weekly work mileage (about 200 miles) gives me between 42 and 44 mpg (by the pump and OBC) which is about 70% town with 30% motorway.

Purely town driving I get between 39 and 42, purely motorway a minimum of 50mpg.

    Mine is a CDTi 150.

Ian, how big is the tank? lol mines only a tiddler of 28L even when taking it as far into the refill zone as I dare

I do tend to leave her in 5th a lot, but dont mince about that much.
It helps having a car that is 1/3rd the weight of a veccy/signum

I get 31.7 mpg out of my 2.2 according to the trip computer. Not to bad really as it is mostly town driving.

Oh my, with some bad maths that looks like somewhere between 50 and 60mpg if I were to make the very wrong change... hmmmmmmm

So I could go from 210miles per tank to between 310 and 380 miles (based on the last fill up). So 1.5 Weeks commute compared to just about a week, for a mere 30p a tank more (plus conversion costs) lmao.

Don't forget to drive them both - I hated the 2.2 I had a few years ago. It had no torque at all and no power below 4000rpm...

    V6 CDTi FTW...

the 2.2 petrol has tons of torque (well tons for a petrol)

Cant fit a v6 in the bay without big big work, plus gearbox killing lmao

The 2.2 has to be driven in a certain way to get the best out of the engine performance wise, it definitely has it's limitations at lower revs in standard form, that said it quite happily gives most things a run for their money at the very least and is a very capable and reasonably powerful engine.

Spend some money on it and it will easily do 200-300bhp which makes it a totally different animal again. It'll never have the instant punch of the turbo but still goes like stink if you want it to.

It's a long stroke engine which is why the power lacks a little at low revs.
