Default ride quality after wheel change

I have changed my wheels from the 17ins which come as standard on the Sri, to some aftermarket ones which are 18ins.
The ride quality is now quite poor and even though I hated the 17inch wheels and love the look of my new 18inch ones.I think I may have made a mistake.
The new ones came with some cheapo tyres iv'e never heard of. Could this be the problem,or is it to be expected with bigger wheels and tyres.

I drove an SE on 17" wheels today (Customers Car) and his had the factory Continental tyres, his didn't seem that much different to my SE with 19's.

I am more than happy with the ride quality on mine, but budget tyres can ruin a cars drivability.

I have the factory 20" on an SRI sport tourer and whilst the ride is quite firm especially compared to the Vectra Elite estate it is not at all uncomfortable and I quite like it really, does have OEM Goodyears though.

I run a little known tyre called Neuton NT5000, on my 250Hp Aero and they are the golden egg, very cheap, very grippy and last double the length of Falken and Toyo's.

I run 225/45 x 18 on my better half's Mk4 Golf V5 and they are very quiet on that too very compliant compared to the Pirelli's P-neros on before.

Not sure if this helps but I fins rubber makes an enormous difference

the tyres on mine are by Autogrip. Just been looking on Ebay and they are selling for £250 for 4. So looking at the price of the others they are a very cheap tyre. I cant beleave the price of the others!

Your right, decent tyres are always best, but if you havent got the budget then you have to buy whats best for you.

Even though a decent tyre will last twice as long it can be difficult to buy 4 decent ones to begin with.
