    Default CDR2005 to CD70 Nav

I got a 2.2i Direct SRi with the CDR2005 in it. Just wondering whats involved in changing it and how easy it is as i can't find any 'How to' on it. Obviously i will need to change the screen as well. Just wanted some insight to doing it.

well you need to change this:

    ISO plug -> fakra
    Screen
    Screen sourround
    Radio
    Steering wheel controls
Get a satnav antenna (10£ of ebay)
If you have ECC also that panel to a 2005 model or newer.

    As Kemp says...

    1) You will need to use a conversion loom, often used for parrot kits etc (SOT lead which will already have ISO and fakra plugs fitted).

    2) You need to re-wire the display (32 pin plug) the non-canbus wires are in different pin positions.

    3) If you don't have an ECC (climate control), then you wont need to change the panel.

    4) You will indeed need to change your controls to the scroller type, and ensure that the controls are enabled for scroller wheels.

    5) The air-vent surround to suit the display and also

    6) If a clolour screen is to be used, then you'll need the RGB lead .

You will also need an aerial conversion lead (Vx to ISO, and ISO to Fakra).

and the GPS aerial, which is usually advertised on fleabay as being suitable for a VW / Audi (must be fakra connector)

There is some change to the can wiring on the display,

    As Follows
Colour and Pin No (half can) function - Pin No on Full Can

    17 Green not used
    18 White not used
19 white ECC or DAB (Mid Spd Can -) - move to Pin 18
20 Green ECC or DAB (Mid Spd Can +) - move to pin 17
22 Green - Diagnostic (Mid Spd Can +) = Stays the same
23 White - Diagnostic (Mid Spd Can -) = Stays the same
25 Green - AirBag Circuit (Low Speed Can) = Stays the same
28 Green - Illumination, Ambient Temp, Ignition Logic (Low Speed Can) = Stays the same

    Plus on full can display
19 white-Radio Communication (Mid Spd Can -) to radio pin 10
20 green-Radio Communication (Mid Spd Can +) to radio pin 9

The full wiring conversion is detailed in one of my early threads for fitting CD70 to my cavalier.
