    Default Catalyst help

Just went to a garage to ask them to check the car out as the engine management light is on. Said the car sounds like something wrong with the car exhaust so up with the ramps car was running he started from the front ans stop just before the catalyst. The pipe with the mesh on it has split and I could feel air coming out.So back to the counter for the price he told me that the catalyst and this pipe come as one is this right if not could I have the part number for the pipe with the mesh on the price he give was over £700
he check with parts company and said they could do if for just over £350 what do you all think?

    Thanks

    Steve

The flexi joint is leaking i presume ? Could you not weld in a new flexi. Cost 40 ish max for right flexi and about the same to have a new one welded in.

Also checking the web you can easy get a whole new cat for 200 notes. Only a few nuts and its off.

MIJ welded in a new flexi for me when I had my exhaust done by them, cost about £60 from memory.

Just weld a new flexi pipe to your existing exhaust, any good exhaust centre will do it for between 40 and 60 quid.

I got mine fixed at a custom exhaust place ie the old one was removed and new one was welded in. £75 for the flexipipe, I was told the same as you £300ish for the downpipe with Flexi - eh no thanks
