    Default fed up....

    took car to garage to get oil leak sorted , it was supposedly coming from the crankshaft sensor, guy told me he would put new o ring on it, fine i thought , car was running fine, went to get it and the guy had a diagnostic on my car telling me it was showing code335 (Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction) , i never had any problems with it before , would disturbing the sensor cause this ,id like to know because ive been told the sensor needs to be replaced and i dont want to throw money at it...help please...

    The Crankshaft sensor seems to be a fairly common component to fail. I'm not sure just knocking it would cause the issue but seeing as the car went into the garage with it working and now its its not i'd see if the garage owner will pay for it partly or fully. Worth a try!

    thanks for the reply , i am fed up...lol...waiting for him to call me with a price ..if car has new part put in and it doesnt fix it he will be keeping it, although if that is the only thing he has touched surely it has to be that...thanks again..

    Cant see how changing the O ring would cause the sensor to fail,more likely conincidental I would think,hope you get it sorted

    On my old vectra b the wiring went all hard and when moved the insulation fell off so had to change it any way

    garage called to say car is fixed , drove it home 5 miles or so and all is well...thanks all for the replies..

    How much did they charge for the sensor, the O-ring and labour?

    hi mate, i had a few jobs done, and the crankshaft sensor wasnt quoted on my price at time, i supplied oil,filter,oil pressure switch,and sump sensor o ring to be replaced, the c.s.s. o ring was leaking and it was when it was removed it developed the fault , so the garage replaced the sensor with genuine vauxhall one and the total price for all work done including diagnostic was £83.66 , thought that wasnt bad mate...
