    Default Stupid EGR - Why the...............

    Just cleaned and lubed my egr for about the 10th time in 2 weeks. It is all moving like new and gone back together fine however i cant stop the EGR open error being displayed. Any one else had this at all.

    Reset the error but comes back as soon as the car is running and if checking on opcom it shows the error as a live message so on constant. Cant understand how it can be stuck open as everything is moving fine and its now in like new condition due to being cleaning so much lol.

    Do i just spew it and go and pick up a new one.

    Whilst off, can you attach a power supply to it and see if the solenoid moves, it might be free by hand but won't rule out any other issues with it.

    this might be the same as mine. i get spanner light for a few mins on startup. my U480 tells me that the EGR is 'not ready'... do you get spanner for few mins/miles then it goes out again?

    I ha same thing happen to me too myn off to clean it lubed it up put it back together and got the fault ERG flow malfunction too it off and had a good check looked like i mite of wacked it a bit to hard when i was getting the pin out oops lol got a new one for £100 and fixed the problem sooo..

    Yer i get the spanner for a few mins then its goes out. The engine symbol is also on the dash constantly too doh.

    Just ordered a new EGR so hopefully that fixes it.

    have you stripped and cleaned the elec solenoid side aswell?.

    Yes. Run it on the bench buffer and cleaned it up like a mirror. I think i found the fault last night. The very end of the metal pin that sticks out of the solenoid side had a little lip on it that is catching when it goes fully in. Could not be bothered to grind it smooth last night as was installing 0awg cables in my car. Job for tomorrow.
