Default air con sucks the power

When i switch on the a/c whilst idling in my 2.0DTi, the engine sounds very laboured and the revs drop somewhat! I've heard of the 1.8's struggling abit and i think there is a vx remap that fixes this. Does anyone else with standard aircon have the same problem, or know of a similar fix for the dti? It really sucks the power from general driving too! The DTi is bad enough as it is let alone having a few more ponies pinched by the aircon (especially on days like today!!)

It's natural for the engine to drop some revs when idling when you turn on the AC, as the AC compressor is kicking in and putting a bit more load on the engine.

Should slighty raise the idle when switched on, only very slightly these days, self compensation when pulling off is to give it more juice.

After seeing VV's post I realised I worded mine wrongly. Turning on AC does indeed raise the revs. Wonder why yours is dropping storey?
