Default How many vectra's have you driven?

Since 2002 my life has been fly & hire to London almost every working week and in that time the companies I were with had accounts with Alamo / National then Europcar, then Hertz.

I must have driven about 50 Vectras from 2.0Dti life to 1.8 life, LS 1.8 VVTi SRi, Design's but have never had a 1.9 CDti

My memory serves me that the highest miler a 49K mile silver SRi 1.8 VVti from Hertz had a very sloppy gearshift, is this a common feature at 50K miles? Interior seems to hold up fairly well but the dash plastics around the ashtray seem to look very tired on some cars and the seat cloth can become a little,,,, fragrant? shall I say on many cars.

I have found that suspension seem's to be OK quiet no major clunks and bangs the petrol engines seem fine if not a ball of fire? and the bodywork though gets a massive abuse does seem rental company dependent as many have trashed paint through roller washing others are fine.

Sorry just had to ramble on

Drove a 1.8 SRi VVTi facelift and speed aside, preferred my pre-face CDTi. Don't know why...

I have a contract with National (although they do appear to sometimes subcontract to Hertz)
I specifically ask for Astra size cars, but that often means a Vectra (as we hire on 2 hours notice)

I've never had a hire car with more than 20K miles on it, also typically no more than 1 year old
If they presented me with a hire car with more than 30K miles I would refuse it, equally if it was more than 1 year old

As far as I am aware National don't have any 1.9 CDTI on their Vectra fleet, although you can request a diesel for a premium I believe it is a VW Passat at that group size (that is what my local has offered me before)

i've had loads of hire cars through work over the last 6 years or so and a D class normally means you end up with vectra, or of course more recently the insignia. so i've driven probably about 60-70 of them. mostly get 1.8 and 1.8vvts and 1.9 cdti 150s (insig 160). never normally more than a few hundred or couple of thousand miles old with various trim levels but mostly SRi. hence the reason i ended up buying a veccy sri. fantastic to drive, handles well, comfortable on any length of drive, and the 150 offers amazing performance and economy.

m8int> national do have 150s.... had loads of them in the midlands mate

National and Europcar are quite good on miles Hertz and Avis on the other hand are quite poor now. I spoke with a returns guy at Birmingham on returning the SRi on 49K and he told me they have to run them far longer and that at 50K this 07 was being pensioned off. I have had a Focus estate on 47K before another shed on wheels that was! all of which is dissappointing as I hold a Hertz No1 club presidents circle card that entitles me to a free class upgrade on all my bookings to be upgraded to a used tired and battered car is the reason I am now back at Europcar again.
