Take out your cat using a big drill bit drill in side the pipe onto the ceramic car then just bash it all out keeping the container whole pit back on when it's empty and bingo you have a diy de cat that costs nothing and looks standard I done this on my mondeo I had and made a big difference to mpg and power

not sure on the vec but on my mondeo it was 4 bolts on the turbo and 2 bols on the exhaust then the cat came out i then got a 14mm 12inch drill bit and drilled a few holes into the ceramic insides then a hammer and metal bar and bashed the insides out its like a ceramic honeycomb that breaks easily i then shok this out of the cat untill it was hollow make sure its all out though i then bolted it back in and took it for a drive what a difference power was and mpg went up by about 10mpg i was getting 740miles on a tank in a mondeo estate 2.0tdci 130hp i would love to do it to my veccy but i have a dpf which is another can of worms lol

if your cat is bolted in then its easy if its welded inplace or if its fitted in a long section of pipe then the only way is to cut out the cat and weld in a striaigh pit of pipe the same diameter if you lived near me i could of helped as i have all the ls and a mig welder too lol

diesels def dont need a cat i have nver ever heard of a diesel failing an mot for not having a cat put it this way i had my mondeo go through 2mots with no cat and it was only reading 1.8 out of 4.5 for the smoke test so no where near failing

def do the mod and i garentee it wont fail the mot

think of all the diesels that dont have cats from the factory and they all pass lol
