How on earth can a reputable firm, say to a customer.....we dont insure boy racers? perhaps the line should have been....we dont insure modified cars, I'd say someone needs lessons in customer care, if they worked for me that would have been the last day they did, ok so this car isn't the type they want to insure, but what if in future you wanted to insure something bog standard? I doub't you will ring them again, and they wonder why business' fail. ROLLSEYES, lol.

My other half, many years ago, used to work for RAC insurance as a customer claims manager. If she found out that one of her staff had said 'boy racer' they would be given a disciplinary warning.

It could have been a tongue-in-cheek comment but you just can't guarantee that the customer would take it that way.
