    Default 3.2 GSI Clutch

    Hi Guys,

Just got back into the Vectra club with my second 3.2 GSi. Picked it up yesterday and noticed that when putting my foot down, the revs jump up around 1.5rpm before any real go forward surge.

I have had a look through the forum and I cannot seem to find any details on other people having their clutches changed in one of these Vectras, how much it cost, number of hours labour to change etc.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Chris.

In terms of labour autodata gives 4.7hours to change the clutch and flywheel (I'm assuming your gonna change the DMF while the box is out) as for parts euro car parts list them as follows (I always use euro car parts as a reference as they give the prices online):
    DMF £ Not listed
    Clutch kit £ 117.19
    Slave Cylinder £ 72.73 - £94.94.
A DMF could be anywhere from £200 - £500 but if I were you I'd only use OEM parts as there has been a few issues with aftermarket stuff especially slave cylinders. LUK is OEM for yours. (basically what the dealer would fit but without vauxhall on the box).
    Hope this helps

The car was registered in May 2003, so does this mean I get away from the DMF? How can I find this out?

So with the clutch kit and slave cylinder I am looking at around £200, 5 hours labour - £200 (hopefully!) and maybe a DMF so total bill close to £800.

Not good for a Sunday morning!!

Does anyone know of any good specialists to do this work in or near Swansea?

Iirc it was MY2004 when the brakes got changed to 314's and the DMF got added. Mine is a 2003 and has neither of them although i would'nt complain with bigger brakes lol.

Check with the parts dept at your stealers and see if they can tell from your chassis number. But if you have the 302 front brakes then i dont think you will have a DMF.

Any idea why there is such a difference in price between the slave cylinders? Should I go for the Sachs unit because it costs more or the cheapest one available?

Has anyone had any experiences with these?

    Thanks again!

Not 100% true is it as some of the early ones got the 314's.

Although it maybe a good way to tell with the dmf i.e. if its got 302's then you don't have one etc.....
I wonder if the solid flywheel from the early ones can be fitted to remove the dmf's?
