as a quick follow up, wen working normally do the sensors turn them selves off once you are on the move. once i come to the end of a journey and park up, they are off, unless i have to reverse, and there is a beep as if they are turned on again?? what does the button on the dash do? activate or de-activate the sensors? and help appreciated..

    regards

Possibly just one of the plugs has come away from the sensor mate, worth a quick check...

hey amob, i am assuming theses are rear sensors and are either factory fitted or genuine accessory sensors. if so they have a small speaker to make the beep sound, on mine, Estate, its located in the left hand rear quarter trim. According to the previous service history it had this replaced at some time in the past, so maybe thats whats packed up on yours, as the light in the button on yours is showing them working.

With the ignition switched on, the front and
    rear parking distance sensors are
    automatically activated when reverse gear
    is engaged.
The parking distance sensors can also be
activated at speeds of less than 15 mph
(25 km/h) by pressing the button on
    the instrument panel.
An illuminated LED and an acoustic signal
indicate that it is ready for operation.

You also get a failure light on on the dash when you select reverse if there is a fault with the system.

    your right alan,

the symbol on the dash is the letter P and a triangle, it illuminates yellow, indicating a fault in system.

i am getting this as well so there is obviously an itermittent fault, however they strangely worked today. wot is the cheapest option for trying to get them fixed? they r factory standard sensors..
