What is tech 2 exactly??

Hi all,
What is tech 2 ?? I assume it is something to do with the programming of the car? I keep seeing it in threads etc.
I have actually mailed someone with tech 2 experience because I need to activate some stuff and from what I can make out, I need tech 2 to do it. Can I get a trip computer activated? Does this need tech 2?
I have a cd40 opera with dab with a large display.
If so, is there anything else I can get activated?

Does this display info like low washer water, water temp, bulb out etc or is that needing tech 2 as well?

It is not just for programming the car but is the electronic interface for diagnostics as well and in answer to your other questions:

How much should I expect to pay for trip comp activation? what else, if anything, could i have activated?

I was a bit slow. When the salesman said do you want me to enquire about the trip comp, I said no, lets wait until i get the car ! Doh. Maybe they would have done it free, or cheap.

The stealers will charge about £60 and hour but you might find someone on here who has access to Tech 2 that might be able to do you a favour for beer tokens

That would be handy for me, I need tech 2 for my reversing sensors that have a fault!lol

Hobo, sorry mate I did get your pm but havent had time/forgot to reply lol.. I'll be up in Milton Keynes on the 15th if you want to pop down and have some things tech2'd.. Just bring your car pass with you though!..
