    Default Smeary windscreen

    Hi all,
My previous Vectra had a problem with the windscreen. Basically in the rain, whenever I put the wipers on, it kept smearing like there was grease on the screen. Hard to see at night with headlights on the screen.
I did try to degrease it which helped a bit (then jet washed it), but was soon smearing again.
Now I have a 57 plate Vectra (owned it a few days now). I was hoping I wouldnt have this problem now, but the new car is doing the same to some degree.
Does anyone else get this? I thought it may be contaminated screen wash, but it cant be.
Any suggestions on how to keep the screen clear?

    Cheers.
    Kev.

My dear old mum once tried to help me by cleaning my first car's windscreen with Windolene. made a long night trip up the A1 in rain interesting.
Best thing I've found for cleaning screens inside and out is Autoglym glass cleaner. Gets sh*te off the outside and any smoker's residue off inside. Done right it looks like no glass in car.

If its happened after washing with water from the jets then i'd try flushing the jet bottle out. Then ut some anti freeze stuff in with water 50 50 mix. Also put vinegar on a kitchen roll and wipe your wiper blades over. This will give them a clean too. And as above give the screen a good clean insde and out. At least this should cover all bases.
The only other thing it could be, as its 2 seperate vectra's, your water at home??

Thanks guys. Yeah, the fact it is two different cars is weird. I was using halfords premium ready mix wash (no water from home), and I have not even touched the new car.
It looked like thousands of tiny areas of grease on the old one, the new one just looks more smeary in general.
When i squirted the screen wash on the old car it cleared it for about 2 mins, then it would be back, hence the degreasing attempt on the screen. I was told to use fairy liquid and to jet wash it off, which did help a bit, for a while. Just surprised to have it with new car too to a degree although not as bad. I did also clean the blades on the old one, but in the end decided it was maybe worn blades. I knew I was going to trade her in though, so didn't change them
I will go out and buy some AG, as I now have a week off to polish her paint off Then I will put up some pics if I can work out how to.

No, I don't have trees near where I park. I always use to get a slight smearing when using the wipers when it rained, but it always cleared quickly when keeping the wipers on. Then it developed into a major problem. I first noticed it when driving the in-laws home in N.Wales. I blame them ! Thought I must have picked up some diesel or oil from road spray.

If it becomes a problem with the new one. I may get some of those blades

    Also some rain away.
