    Default Engine cover insulation

Was looking at a mates car yesterday and his is the Z22YH engine whereas mine is the Z22SE ; when we took the top engine cover off I noticed his had insulation/sound deadening pad fitted to the underside of the cover itself and mine doesn't have this, should the Z22SE have it or not is the question more out of curiosity than anything? the other thing that did spring to mind with his having it fitted, is could this be contributing to fuel pump / regulator failures on the Z22YH engine due to potential lack of air flow in and around the top of the engine I wonder and these components over heating as it were?

Direct injection engines tend to be much noisier - that's why they need additional noise deadening material over the port injected engines.

    Hi mate

It does not make a Differences to the noise I took mine off as I thought it was over heating after my fuel pump went and it made no more noise than it normally does.

Its now back on the engine the insulation only covers the engine not the pump its self how ever im going to be sorting out some ducting to create more flow to the pump and reg.

The YH Engine is alittle noisier due to the Higher compression
