Default Clarification Required - 2.2 Direct Fuel Pump!!

    Hi All,

I'm trying to establish if the Fuel Pump in my Vectra is from the new batch or the old (faulty) batch - is there a way of telling??

Basically, after talking to my local dealer, they tell me that their stock Fuel Pumps are branded as 'Continental' with part number 93174538.

The one currently fitted on my car is branded as 'Siemens' with part number 244xxxxx. This was fitted only 18 months ago under warranty, and was promised by Vx that it was from the new batch (I had to wait about 6 weeks for the part to arrive with them) - low and behold, it's failed again!! So now I'm dubious about what they told me is actually true. (Did they get fed up with waiting for the new batch to arrive and just fit an old one??)

From doing a bit of reserach, it does appear that Siemens were consumed by Continental in 2008 - so, in effect they are the same company. The new 'reliable' batch of Fuel Pumps were released late 2008 (but were they all branded 'Continental'?).

If anyone can shed any light, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be fuming and straight up the dealers that supplied it. I'd cause a scene if i had to.

    ..the plot thickens...

according to one dealership that I spoke with today, there never was a 'modified' fuel pump. They admitted that there was a recall for a small batch that were manufactured a couple of years ago, and that GM were holding off shipping any more fuel pumps to the UK until they were completely satisfied that the rest they had were okay - but they never actually manufactured a 'new' 'modified' fuel pump. Therefore, whether it's badged with 'Siemens' or 'Continental', they're exactly the same.

If anyone knows anything different, I'd be pleased to hear from them.

It seems that the fuel pumps have never had an acknowledged fault (other than the small batch which were recalled in 2008), and that the numerous failures to these pumps have been because of faulty regulators.

As we know, there has been a recent recall to replace the regulators - so Vauxhall seem to think that they have now solved the problem (we've heard that one before).

The annoying thing is, my current pump was already knackered - even before the new regulator was fitted (of course, Vx will claim no responsibility for this - even though it's because of a direct result of their dodgy regulators!)
