confused flat battery killed my radio??

hi, newbie here so sorry if i seem a novice.
got an 02 vec, ncdc 2013, colour display, six buttons on the steering wheel.
parked the car for two nights and on return found the battery only had 6 volts left in it? got the aa out to get me going and since they did, the radio would not turn on and none of the buttons worked. the screen still showed the VX logo and reports warnings but i can no longer clear them. radio WAS playing very very quietly (even though it was off?) until i thought for some reason that it may have been left on and the cd changer may be causing the problem. so i removed the cd cartridge (laborious or what) put it all back and still nothing. the unit will load cd's and even reloaded the mag but nothing else, no safe, no error codes. have checked all relevant fuses and all ok, have to remove the radio fuse to prevent battery draining. only other symptom is that the passenger window will open with the key but not close?? HMM.....

    my question
is there a stereo that will allow me to set the clock on the screen
if not can i do it by shorting pins on the iso connector?
should i just give up, replace the stereo, and get a wiring kit for the remote controls.
hope this makes sense and i havent waffled too much
thanks for ANY advice (even if its 'go away' LOL )

well if change for aftermarket radio, you will loose all the funktions on you CID, as you would not be abel to control it.. you have to replace it with a new NCDC..

There is one thou that have replaced the NCDC with a CDR2005, but he actually still have the ole ncdc in the boot to work as a bridge..
