on the front passsengers side where the brake pad sensor plugs in cut the plug off and earth the wire to the chasis. had to do this on mine cause light wouldnt go off on the dash
have you bought the right pads with the wear indicator wire?
just join the pad sensor wires
a new pad wear sensor is only 8 quid
thanks guys!
I thought the sensor seems quite useless really. Only on one wheel and the rear pads seem to wear 2 - 3 times faster than the fronts, so making visual checks necessary anyway. Or is it just me?
(I wouldn't rely on the sensor, the sound of metal grinding when you push the middle pedal is a better indicator )
Sensor is only on the front wheel anyway.
Logic behind this is that a mechanic would check the rears at the same time but also, the rears wear at a much lower rate.
Or you could have a pre-facelift Life model like mine, whereby they did away with the sensor wire altogether!
They are separate parts
The Vectra B was the same, the base models did not have a front brake pad sensor, however there were two wires
having two wires was fairly pointless as in most cases both had to be replaced; it was very rare for just one to wear out
I agree though, the rear brakes wear out faster than front brakes, but that is simply due to the poor heat disappation
I have had that on all the my cars with rear brake discs (rather thn drums)
