    Default Taps......... Again

After the useful help I received for my kitchen tap (which now no longer drips) I thought I would ask about my bath/shower mixer tap

It is some 10 years old now and has 2 issues.

The first is that the hot tap is very stiff to turn on, it turns part way, then I really have to turn it hard to open it the whole way. What is causing this and how do I fix.

The second problem is that when the taps are on and I push down on the central plunger to divert the water to the shower head, water comes out of the shower head but also still comes gushing out of the tap. Again what is the cause and how do I fix.

Apologies for the tap not looking shiny !!!!

What are these taps called. I tried googling "bath mixer/shower tap not diverting all water to shower head" and unbelievably didn't come up with many helpful hits !!!

    Cheers

    Damian

the water coming out of both the taps and the shower head id guess is down to a part inside that shuts off the water to the taps when the buttons pressed/pulled probably degraded or snapped.

The sticky hot tap is probably the valve and the diverter for the bath shower is probably perished.
Prolly cheaper to get a new tap.

Guys, I have solved the stiff tap issue, cleaned the gland out it works a treat now thanks.

Any ideas how to get the plunger section apart for the shower head, I just can't fathom out how it comes apart

    Cheers
