    Default Classic car insurance question...

    Hi all,

I have an oportunity to buy a very very low mileage Porsche 944. It's a 1986 Lux with 2.5 ltr engine. White with burgundy half leather trim. 65k with full PSH.

I have been quoted about £178 ins for the year as a classic car and i'm confused about the NCB.

I have 10yrs plus on the Vec and it seems that as a classic car they do not include NCB The £178 was comprehensivebut TPFT was £210

Anyone here got a second car thats insured as a classic and can help me understand what goes on with the NCB.

    Thanks .... Jon

I was told you can only have one car with NCB, worth asking around, when I had several classics I remember one firm told me they'd give me my normal NCB on one, and introductory NCB on another.

Is it not the person who gets the NCB not the car? What about someone like Admiral and there multi car insurance?

Yeah sorry, should have been clearer. It is the individual that earns the ncb but that NCB can only be used on one car (unless you have as mentioned admiral multicar) however..

A classic car insurance specialist will take into consideration an ageed value for the car. I personally wouldn't insure a car through any of your run of the mill insurers.

Try to find a specialist who knows what the are talking about and although you may start with no NCB bite the bullet as you will soon earn a few years and it'll get cheaper

    Thanks for the replies chaps

Been on the phone a bit more today it's a bit clearer. My NCB is on my main car but because the other will will be garaged and only 3000 miles a year I have found a classic porsche specialist who quoted £146 fully comp a year Thats with one at fault claim "malicious damage" and a yet to be agreed value.

    Well chuffed with that

Looks like it might be a goer then but poor old veccy will end up back on the road

    Need another garage

    Jon
