    Default Motability

I'm not clued up on Motability very much but my mum's due a new car in November and after a lot of persuasion she's decided to get a white Insignia, and after speaking to a VX dealer today they said you can't get a white car on the scheme......

Apparently you must choose a metallic colour but I can remember when she got her first 2 cars, N reg Corsa and a Veccy B, you had to pay extra to have metallic paint lol

Does anyone know if the guy was talking ****?

Sounds like **** to me, what difference does it make to the car what colour it is?? I always thought you had to pay extra for metallic as well. Tell her to put her foot down and demand it in white, after all what colour you have is surely a personal preference??

That's a new one on me, never heard of a paint colour requirement. My wife and I are both on our second Motobility cars, but we go Motobility Finance rather than Hire, we pay for running costs and keep the car at end of term. They usually list a level of eqiupment and anything extra has to be paid for.
This is main site link, may help: http://www.motabilitycarscheme.co.uk/main.cfm?type=CHSW

I've had a look on their site and it says nothing about what colour you can and can't have, but she said her friend used to always get white cars on the scheme.....

This will be her 6th car, all Vauxhall's too lol

    I dropped them an email.

They usually get you to order the car a month before it's due to be changed, but seeing as the Insignia has a 3 month wait she's thinking of getting the order in early

The salesman is correct. Motobility have to resell the cars after the lease and it is easyer to resell metallics etc and that is why it is mandatory to choose one.
He is not being awkward just honest.
My old dear has used motability for years and its brilliant and i would 100% recomend it to you.
What is the advance payment on an insignia, It must be over £1000 at least.?
Have you thought about the new Astra as you can usually get one for no advance payment.
Dont forget you have to return the car after 3yrs so there is no point paying a large advance payment unless you intend to buy the car at the end of the lease.
Ignore the comments about the salesman being wrong because he is correct.
The salesman is 100% correct in what he has told you.
It makes no difference to him as you are not paying for the car and he does not get any commision.
While you are at it get them to throw in some car mats, But dont expect to get anything else.

Just had a look at the motability website and they are giving the insignia away. When my mum was due for a new car when her 3yrs was up they were going for a minimum of £1200.
If you look at the description you will see the initials MP. That stands for metallic paint.
Should clear it up for you.
