Default Partial clean of engine bay

    Hi guys & gals,

I had some spare time after cleaning the car at the weekend, so I decided to have a little go under the bonnet. There's quite a way to go yet, but it was pretty shocking to start with, so I thought I'd share my progress with you all.

'Before' (from a few weeks ago), 'After' and 'From above':

Hopefully you can see the improvement!

I know, I need to clean the filler cap properly...

You wouldn't believe how much CRAP there was around the bonnet catch!

Nice work. I'm also curious about how you approached this and what you used.

No mystery guys, I used car shampoo & water with a cloth to clean (nearly) all the surfaces and paintwork (after scraping off all the really ground-in stuff around the bonnet release catch), then I wiped all the black plastic and rubber surfaces/pies etc. with Auto-Glym "Bumper Care" (though I think their "Vinyl & Rubber Care" would probably have the same results. Make sure you follow the instructions and shake the bottle A LOT before using as it takes much shaking to get the consistency of the paste right (you'll just get all the liquid otherwise, like the vinegar with tomato ketchup).

Having just looked at their full product range, I'm also thinking that I could have used "Engine & Machine Cleaner" to clean everything...
