    Default Is this right ?????

Just been reading a copy of autocar and they say that the veccy 1.8 life with the factory LPG conversion is insurance group 18 how can they justify that its only got 116 BHP my Elite 3.2 V6 is only group 14 according to Swift .com

Now i know its probably something to do with the extra componants that make it dearer to repair if it has a (Duncan) experiance BUT come on group 18

Have we got any owners who can conferm this or not ????

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

I can only assume the ridiculously high rating is down to the fact that there's a bottle of highly flammable gas under high pressure under/inside the car and they see that as an increased risk? And the extra cost to repair the LPG side of things if it gets damaged.

Daft though isn't it - partly/totally wipes out any sort of saving by using LPG in the first place!

It is all about risk costs. end of story. What it is powered by clearly has a much higher risk than 'traditional fuels'.

And why women have lower quotes, driving ability is only one factor. Statistically women have lower insurance claims - therefore lower quotes. It is all about generalities and nothing about individuals.

This is down to the fact that you are carrying high pressure gas on the vehicle,as some of you have mentioned, example when you put nitrous on the vehicle your insurance can go as much as a £1000 more or the company will not even insure you.
Gas of any type is a risk as far as the insurers are concerned!.

EhEhEh calm down calm down, I think you will find it's group 8, my mate runs a 2.0 Omega LPG, and he's never mentioned any high insurance group before.
