Default Toyota Corolla Verso vs Vauxhall Zafira

I have had a preliminary look at both of these, primarily as we occasionally need 7 seats.

I'd appreciate some pro's and cons and also if anybody has had experience of them, particularly the Verso?

Was only offered 2k Part-Ex on mine, so I've got a lot to find to fund whichever I buy.

My gut feeling is the Zafira is a bit roomier. Age wise, 55 plate to about 07 plate newest.

Present shape Zafira, Slightly older type Verso (04 -08 years)

Would also like some opinions on the 1.6 16v twinport engine which seems to be the main fodder for the Zafira Active, which seems to be the spec/price I'm gravitating towards.....

The 1.6 Twinport is a good engine but totally out of place in a Zafira, especially when loaded up.

Diesel power is where it's at for shifting people and stuff.

My budget is not quite up to a CDTi, and only then it would only be a 120!

Perhaps I'll save a bit more!

    Thanks Stampede.

The 1.9 8v is a very good engine. More reliable than the 16v and can be tuned quite easily to 170bhp-ish.

i have a 1.9 cdti 120 zaffy and it shifts fast enough for the size of it
and as said already, it seems to be more reliable then the 150 and can be tuned easily if you feel like you need a bit more poke

used a 1.6 zaffy for a week as a hire car about 2 years ago. Went OK, but I was on my own, so can't comment with full load. What I did notice was fairly poor fuel consumption. From memory I think it was no more than 30 ish mpg.

If you can save for a diesel I think you would be much better off

Our 'other' car is the 1.6 16v (ecotec) Zafira on a 05 plate.

It does not feel too bad with 2 adults, 2 kids and a bootfull of holiday stuff.
If you take it easy, it does not drink the fuel either.

A word of warning though, in the new car tax brackets, or 1.6 zafira costs more than our 1.8 veccie (both petrol ecotec)
