If the controls were working for the CD30, then it must be that your screen is programmed with the wrong variance code...you will need to get someone with Tech 2 or Op-com to program the screen to show that there are scroller controls present.

The options within the variance tables are
    1) Scroller wheels (as usually found with full can vehicles October 2004 onward)
    2) Buttons (as usually found on half can vehicles upto September 2004)
    3) No Controls

and a separate option for switches (on the stalk for info and bc functions - half can vehicles)

I read somewhere that the CD30 has the scroller buttons programmed in as standard, whereas for some bizarre reason the CDC40 and CD70 Navi can have either option 1 or option 3.

The fuse for the radio is F1
Fuse for BCM which controls all input functions are F7, F9, F12 , F26
Fuse for CIM module is fuse 10 (all steering wheel and local switches are affected by this)
    Display fuse is F17

Thanks for the replies and help from everyone

after trying all the fuses speaking to various vauxhall mechanics i managed to get hold of another screen that had been divorced as i was told that the 1st screen might not be compatible with the car.

I plugged the new screen in an hey presto all the controls are working and it turns off with the ignition.

Got the car booked in with vauxhall to code the screen and stereo into the car on Thursday and hopefully they can switch on the BC controls for the MPG etc.
Is it a straight forward job to program the BC controls.

    Thanks

Depends on the screen...if yours is the one with the clock buttons on the bezel, then BC cannot be activated.
If it is ANY OTHER display, then yes with the correct "CODE INDEX", which the dealer will have, then the BC can be enabled..it may indeed already be enabled.

The screen is CID with CD70. Went into vauxhall this afternoon to have the radio and screen programmed into the car, wish i had found a someone else with a tech 2 as he want sure what he was doing. After a couple of attempts and 30 minutes later he managed to program the radio and screen in. I didnt want to ask him about the BC controls so that the MPG would come up incase he changed something he shouldn't have and messed it all up.
Just need to find someone with Tech 2 in kent or nearby who can sort out the BC control.

In their defence, it is quite a complex procedure, unless you do it regularly.
I had it done in Northwich, by a Vauxhall Independent Specialist Garage ( Midpoint Garage)...
The boss man there knew exactly what he was doing, and it still took him about 15 mins to program all the different modules to recognise the screen, and vice versa.

Like I said above, it is a matter of changing the "Code Index" to enable the BC functions.

This can also be done with a fully approved and upto date Op-com or Vaux Com.

Try ringing round a few scrap yards, as some do have Tech 2 to unpair the myriad of modules from Vauxhall cars...much cheaper than Vx.

Come down to the Brentwood car show in my signature link and I'll program the BC up for you..
Plasma's Tech2 services are now open and able to provide services
