Default Dual climate control - passenger side not cooling

Please help with dual climate control not cooling on passenger side?

I recently bought a Vectra Elite. Now the weather is getting warmer, it became obvious that the air con was not cooling at all. Today I had it re-gassed. It is obviously cooling now but only on the drivers side. The passenger side heats when I turn up the temp, but does not cool as much as the drivers side does when turned down. The passenger side air temp drops to about ambient when the temp control is turned down to "LO" but is no cooler than ambient.

Any Ideas would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Carl Elliott

Does the passenger side show the same tempreture on the screen as the drivers side.
To get them the same press the tempreture adustment "knob" on the drivers side.
To make them work indipendently, press the "knob" on the passengers side.
Other than that I wonder if there is a seperate servo motor for each side and the one has "packed up".

There are different servos for both sides. One may have been taken off and put back in the wrong position so it's end travel point may not be in the coldest position. The motor could also be missing a few teeth so is unable to drive far enough.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Hi Guys,

Thank you for your replies. I have tried the passenger side working dependent and independent of the drivers side still the passenger side does not cool as much as drivers side.

I believe you are both pointing me in the direction of the servos. I had the glove compartment out yesterday and can see some of these motors moving blue, black and red leavers but not sure which is doing what. They also look difficult to get to. I guess its a trip to the dealer to let them fix it.

    Thanks again

    Carl

From my experiance with the recirc" sevo it cost about Ŗ65 trade, and it was a bit of a pig to fit.
I am not sure which acctual sevo you need to change on yours. Perhaps "google" it.
I found some info" on the recirc" servo when I looked.

I've found you only have to press the drivers side knob to syncronise both settings. If someone adjusts the passenger side (without pressing it in) then it only adjusts the temperature on that side of the car. ie, no need to press the knob in. I've never worked out why the passenger side temp knob has the press in option when it's not needed - unless it's for left hand drive cars and that then becomes the master knob to syncronise both sides?

Just adjust one thing at a time and watch them move

    Hi all,
    any update on this?

I'm having a similar problem on my 06 Vectra Caravan.
A few months ago the AC had a leak and it had the radiator replaced. I took me a while to notice the leak since it stopped venting cool air to the passenger side first. So for a while i was getting cool air in the driver side, while the passenger side (which is empty most of the time) got warm air.

Everything seemed to be working fine until a few days ago. Now the problem appears to be that the driver side is not cooling as much as the passenger side... or perhaps the passenger side is cooling too much.

Today i took a thermometer and made some measurements on the air coming from 3 vents: driver left (DL) and right vent (DR) and passenger left vent (PL) - keep in mind i have a left hand drive car.

So with the temperature set to 21ēC to both sides and the fan set to #2 (manual mode), the temperatures were as follows:
    DL - 22ēC
    DR - 20ēC
    PL - 14ēC

    If set to 23ēC
    DL - 26ēC
    DR - 25ēC
    PL - 19ēC

Any guess as to why this is happening?
At 21ēC it seems the passenger side is just cooling too much, but at 23 the driver side goes bonkers too. Could the auto workshop that repaired the aircon mess things up when they assembled everything back?

    thanks,

btw, congratulations on the great forum you have here. Lots of really usefull information. Thanks to your tips i already got the EGR and boost sensor cleaned... and they were extremely dirty.

    greetings from Portugal,
    Carlos
